Company History

Established more than 35 years ago Expertise Events has delivered thousands of events, and has a passionate team of experts behind all operations. With a focus on delivering the best experience possible, we are proud of our history, our progression and what the future holds for us.

Over the years Expertise Events has organised more than 80 different events, running more than 20 each year across a plethora of industries, in both trade and consumer event categories. Below are some highlights of the company’s timeline and some of the brands that we deliver today.

What makes Expertise Events different? We pride ourselves on delivering successful events for all stakeholders, and we do this with a personal and professional touch, fuelled by a passion for the exhibition industry.

Company Inception

1990
Expertise Events first launches as an independent event organiser by founder Gary Fitz-Roy. 

Australian Tourism Exchange

1991
Expertise Events first appointed to assist in the delivery of Australia’s largest government tourism exhibition. We are proud to have delivered the operations of this event each year since then.

International Jewellery Fair

1992
Australia’s largest exhibition for the jewellery trade launched.

SMPTE

1992
Partnership with SMPTE Australia to bring to market an exhibition for Broadcast and Motion Picture suppliers.

Craft & Quilt Fair

1993
What is now Australia’s longest running consumer exhibition, the Craft & Quilt Fair was established.

Sydney Olympic Games

2000
Expertise Events was appointed to run the operations of the Darling Harbour precinct for the Sydney Olympic Games.

Australasian Quilt Convention

2004
What would become Australasia’s largest quilt convention and exhibition was launched with fantastic support.

Fair Events Partnership

2014
Major partnership announced between Reed Exhibitions and Expertise Events in the form of joint venture, Fair Events.

Oz Comic-Con

2019
Acquisition of one of Australia’s largest consumer events and popular culture experiences.

WinePro

2024
Launch of a dedicated wine production event in Blenheim – the heart of NZ wine country.
